# DRAM Process
A DRAM process is the coordinated set of fabrication modules that makes memory cells and their peripheral circuits. For conventional one-transistor/one-capacitor cells, both transistor control and charge storage must work.
## The cell sets the requirements
The access transistor must select a cell while limiting unwanted leakage. The capacitor must hold a distinguishable charge long enough for the intended refresh operation. Wiring and peripheral circuitry must deliver usable sensing and timing.
## Fabrication is coupled
Patterning, implantation or other junction formation, deposition, etching, cleaning and thermal processing are coordinated across many masks. A later temperature or clean can alter a previously formed interface, so modules cannot be optimized independently.
## Geometry creates tradeoffs
Increasing capacitor area within a small footprint can demand tall structures. The associated etches, supports and conformal films must preserve both shape and electrical integrity.
## Release evidence
Use dimensional and materials measurements alongside electrical results. Retention distributions and defect behavior need testing under specified conditions; a single visual cross-section cannot predict the full memory specification.
