dram filmstack
# DRAM Filmstack
A DRAM filmstack is an ordered set of layers belonging to a particular DRAM structure. There is no single stack covering the access transistor, capacitor, bit line and full interconnect.
## Start with a location
A capacitor-region stack describes electrodes and the dielectric between them. A transistor-region stack describes gate and channel materials. An interconnect stack describes conductors, barriers and insulators. Their material lists answer different questions.
## Temporary layers also matter
Capacitor fabrication can use support or mold layers that do not remain as the final dielectric between electrodes. A manufacturing cross-section should identify temporary and permanent layers separately.
## Deep structures constrain the stack
Tall capacitor structures require useful coverage along their surfaces. Deposition, selective removal and mechanical stability must work together; a nominal material sequence alone does not prove manufacturability.
## How to review a stack
Specify layer order, function, thickness target and neighboring interfaces. Then check which etches expose the layers and which thermal steps occur after deposition. Avoid copying a capacitor stack into a transistor drawing.
